Crawling, Walking, Speaking and Running...all in our first year
2008 has been an incredible year for us. Obviously the birth of the DesignMind.co.za network was a major moment and it instantly gave the readers of the DesignMind newsletter a chance to converse, instead of purely listening. With it, the South African Built Industries swiftly became part of the Web 2.0 revolution, leaving many of the country’s other industries wanting.
Thanks to our sponsors’ participation and your – the members’ – enthusiasm for the platform, DesignMind was able to see unheard of growth in its first year of existence. Below are some major milestones in 2008:
» March: DesignMind.co.za launches as a business networking platform for the Built Industries
» June: The 1000th member joins the DesignMind portal
» August: DesignMind reaches 2000 members
» September: KBB Design, Leading Architecture and Architecture SA join DesignMind as Offline Media Partners.
» October: SAIAT join DesignMind as an Institute members; Built Magazine joins as an Offline Media Partner.
» November: 3000 member mark is reached, Designing Ways joins as an Offline Media Partner.
» December: SACAP provides intent to join DesignMind as an Institute member in 2009.
What has really driven the network to this point, however, has been the innovative use by its current members to use the portal to engage fully with the industry they belong to and to make important connections; help each other with industry-related queries; connect with the manufacturers and institutes, and to share their experience and portfolios with all the visitors to the site.
On a highly positive note, we would like to wish you all a well-deserved rest and a highly enjoyable festive season. We thank you for your support through 2008 and are sincerely looking forward to 2009 and working with you to further the cause even more.
Festive Wishes,
Kelvin Jonck and the DesignMind team.
