R28bn ecosphere project boost for Southern Cape
Western Cape Premier Helen Zille launched the R28-billion Destiny Africa multi-purpose development in George at the weekend, heralded as a self-contained ecosphere which will give the Southern Cape a massive financial boost.
Destiny Africa will incorporate a business resort, hotel, conference and exhibition facilities, shopping centres, eco- tourism and housing elements, and an “intellectual knowledge city” with a university, research centre and hospital.
The developers say the model is being successfully deployed internationally to promote national and regional growth, but it has attracted controversy because George residents fear there is not enough water for its needs.

Guggenheim and Google Announce Winners of Global Design Competition
On the 50th Anniversary of the Frank Lloyd Wright–designed Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Guggenheim and Google announced the two winners of the "Design It: Shelter Competition". This interactive, online competition asked participants to utilize Google SketchUp and Google Earth to create and submit designs for virtual 3-D shelters for a location of their choice anywhere on Earth

Informed by aviation and automotive design and manufactured at the micro compact home production centre in Austria, the m-ch can be delivered throughout Europe with project individual graphics and interior finishes. The product was first launched in Munich in November 2005 with the development of a case study village sponsored by O2 Germany, which is currently occupied by students of TU Munich.
