Architecture finds itself in an era of accountability - not least of which is the issue and demands of sustainability. Not just green buildings and environmental protection - we must also consider the sustainability of our heritage, our culture, and our aesthetic landscape.

Debate topic: As architects take accountability for shaping the cities and environment of our future, do we a) look to home-grown responses, learning from our heritage… or do we b) import solutions, learning from the world?

Join us on the 18th February and participate in this significant debate.

The OpenThinkBox™ Design Debate event will include the OpenThinkBox™ Competition 2008 Awards Ceremony, and the briefing for the OpenThinkBox™ Competition 2009 - FirstFix. The OpenThinkBox™ Competition is an annual event initiated by Autodesk Revit® in 2006 to support African design. The competition that is open to professionals and students. Run in partnership with sharpCITY - an activist practice of young architects, the OpenThinkBox™ Competition includes former winners on the panel of judges - a model that takes it beyond 'just another competition'.
