Ed’s note BREAKING NEWS: DESIGNMIND UPGRADE UNVEILING THIS WEEK!
Its been a long time coming and preparation has been intense, but we are extremely pleased to announce that DesignMind has undergone an upgrade and is looking oh, so slick. The new site will go live towards the later part of this week, and we have had to schedule a 24 hour “downtime” period in order for us to update and move all data across to the new site for you. The news site will be live by Monday 26 September, so please be on the lookout for updates from us!
In the meantime, here is a sneak peek of what we have been working on: some new fields have been added to your profile form to make sure that you are found with more precision and ease. This will optimize your listing on social engines such as Google, Facebook, Twitter (etc) to make sure you get found fast – it only takes a minute and will certainly be worth your while.
We are introducing an exciting new section called I-Mags, which allows each member to automatically track and follow thought leadership, news and information in their respective field of expertise simply by subscribing to the I-Mag which is relevant to you.
Particular focus has been also been placed on the marketplace section. This will enable you to view tenders, products, projects, make enquiries and gain insight into best practices in your particular industry.
The new Press Office function, dedicated to you (and visible to your network), will allow you to profile your company, services, products, projects and people to a single destination. It’s a great way to get the word out there about your business and its absolutely free!
DesignMind will also now allow you to map your location with the new Geo-map function.
Another exciting addition (among many) is the new DesignMind10 Forty. This carousel at the top of your home page will list the top 10 industry stories which would have featured on the site during the course of the previous working week (40 hours). Nice, quick catch-up if you missed them, or need to recap.
DesignMind prides itself in keeping our niche online business networking platform for the architectural and design profession exactly that; niche. We would like to once again assure you that DesignMind is moderated by a content facilitator on a daily basis and we approve members who are relevant to the architecture and design profession only.
Please send us your feedback about what you think of our new site, just click the “email us” tab on the bottom of the page. Tell us what you like, don’t like and anything else you would like to see on the site.
We apologise in advance for any inconvenience you may experience, but hope you will see it’s worth when you see what we have done with the new site! Until next time…

Green buildings: great idea, but someone has to pay for it
The green building movement has come to the fore in recent years with a growing number of protagonists claiming it is the way of the future for buildings. But one aspect that might hinder this concept’s increasing uptake is that, in reality, there are seemingly additional costs to bear.

Johannesburg Art Gallery to get a makeover There are structural problems that need to be fixed at the Johannesburg Art Gallery, but the idea driving the change is also to make it more accessible and modern. In November 2010, the Johannesburg Art Gallery turned 100; in 2015, the classic building in which it is housed turns 100, and plans are afoot to give it a makeover.

Why its important to tag your posts:
|
Much like Google, DesignMind’s search engine users will use word tags to find content and people on the site. For example, if Saint-Gobain wants an article about it’s Rhinoboard to be found, Saint-Gobain would need to tag as follows:
Saint-Gobain, Soundboard, Rhinoboard, multi-purpose, general purpose
To get the best search results for you business, be sure to tag your profile, products and services, your articles and any content you publish on DesignMind with as many words as you can think of which will be used to search for solutions or information you provide.
